M-Audio Keystation 49es 49-Note USB MIDI Controller
The M-audio midi keyboards although is not exactly a touch pad instruments, They do almost put out the same type of data we are looking for with midi out with velocity sensitivity. Also to note is the price that a 49 key keyboard costs is about $125 at amazon.com. This is about the price and quality I would hope we could bring to market or at a bit lower cost. This looks to be much more complicated with many more moving parts so should cost much more to produce. But this is something that we should keep in mind as a comparison of price and package.
